My Motherland under siege!

'Don't tell my father I have died', he says;

and i follow him through blood on the road

and hundreds of pairs of shoes the mourners

left behind, as they ran from the funeral,

victims of firing. From the windows we hear

grieving mothers, and snow begins to fall

on us, like ash. Black on edges of flames

it cannot extinguish the neighborhoods,

the homes set ablaze by midnight soldiers,

Kashmir is burning:'

[ Agha Shahid Ali]

Kashmir is boiling, burning and bleeding. More violence, more bloodshed and now more army in the city which will result in more killings. Kashmir has turned into a garrison, a barrack of Indian forces who are ironically, maintaining maximum restrain by killing innocent Kashmiris. Yes, I will use the word 'innocent' for a 17 yr old Tufail Ah. Matoo, 24 yr old Rafique Bangroo, 20 yr old Firdous Ah. Kakroo, 23 yr old Bilal Ah. Wani, 9 yr old Tufail Ah. Rather, 21 yr old Tajamul Bashir, 25 yr old Fancy and may more. The war has begun and its between stones and bullets and the bullets not even sparing an innocent woman who's peeping from her window, not even the part of the protests outside her house.. I wonder what has the useless CM got 2 say about this atrocious killing??

The irony is that people outside our state are blaming us for creating hell here. But the blame is not fully theirs but that of the Indian media which has taken the pledge of not showing the complete truth about Kashmir. They are distorting facts about the situation and this adding fuel to the fire. I did like to ask all those people out there who are pointing their fingers at us, blaming us for this violence- what would you do if any of these names would have been your son's, your brother's or even your friend's or any close relative? Would you sit back at your bloody cozy homes, watch mutely and blame them for their deaths?? Would your souls not burn with anger and revenge? How can you justify the battle between stones and bullets? Thye Indian media is showing just one army personnel who's attacked by protestors whose hearts are burning, weeping with the deaths of young boys but the same media hasn't shown the killings of innocent youths by CRPF troopers at a point blank range. Why aren't they showing those innocent youths who have been illegally disappeared and only Allah knows their tragic fate!

Kashmir is simmering under rage and nothing is being done to lessen this anger and hatred. The CM hasn't done anything, he has failed his people miserably! There are some elements who are labeling us 'fools' being instigated by the Hurriyat and political parties like PDP but they can't understand that we have our own minds, have our reasons and can make our own decisions and we have made our decision- Complete AZADI!! We cannot be swayed by anyone, ruled by anyone and to show this, we are registering our protests and ironically the world's largest democracy is refusing to acknowledge this and is curbing us with bullets and barring any medium of expression.

But nothing can kill our spirit, our passion for Azadi and more the force they put up, more resistance we are going to show up. The burning desire for Azadi can never be extinguished. The hope will linger on and this unfaltering flame of hope can never waver, no matter what tactics India and its govt. apply!

Hum Kya Chatey- Azadi

Cheen ke lenge- Azadi

  1. Peaceful and happy borders are the nightmares of the profit-making politicians and arms-dealers. Democracy at its worst-that is India, the land of the Great Mahatma! 65 years of 'lying' and 'looting' by the so-called leaders have brought this once-proud nation to this "low-lying"state. History will not pardon them.Hope that a patriotic, humane and efficient 'messiah' will shortly take his "avatar" to save us by waking up the "Satyameva Jayate", lying dormant on the National Emblem. The day is not far away when you people will realise your long-cherished 'Aazadee"dreams by bringing Kashmir back to its halcyon days!
